Hello and Welcome!
I’m William D. Rose, the Certified Hypnotherapist and heart behind TherapeuticMindworks.com
My professional life has taken a few sharp turns, but every one of them led me right back to where I was always meant to be. I've "sampled the buffet" if you will.
As a young man, I started out as an electrician's helper crawling through attics and basements. I worked my way up and eventually began wiring houses and was very happy in my career. Then a back injury put a hard stop to that chapter. While I was healing, I studied computer graphics and fell in love with digital design. For years, I worked in all facets of the design and printing industry. After 10 years of working at a desk, gaining about 60 pounds, and looking to get back to some physical activity, I decided to make some changes. I got a trainer, joined the gym and got back in shape. I wanted to return to the construction industry and the lure of starting my own contracting business was calling me.
THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT INTERESTING!
I was researching study guides about how to pass the test administered by the Contractor's State License Board to get my electrical contracting license when I stumbled across binaural beats as a study aid. According to what I found, I could increase focus and retention if I used brainwave entrainment to get into a zone while studying. It was a small investment to get a set of beats to put on my iPod. Remember those? So I used them religiously while studying for the exam. I went to the beach and sat in my chair listening to Alpha beats at 10Hz while studying. I couldn't believe how easy it was to focus with this hum in my ears. No background sound, no hypnotic suggestions, just a hum. I knew I'd pass the exam because I was flying through the practice tests—trade knowledge and law section alike. I passed the first time.
Working for myself was amazing! I hired some helpers and joined a networking group. I got busy and loved what I was doing. Then 2008 happened. Things got slow. Very slow. I was wondering what my options were. What skills did I have? What interested me? How was I going to pay the bills? One evening a commercial came on TV advertising a free seminar by world-famous stage hypnotist, Marshal Sylver, just a few blocks from my house. Sounded interesting, so I went. In just 2 hours, I knew what I wanted to do. The subconscious mind fascinated me. Although I had heard the term, I never really knew anything about it. That was about to change when I enrolled in a comprehensive hypnotherapy program at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute founded by John Kappas, PhD. It was one of the most fulfilling times of my life. It gave me a whole new perspective on Energy. I was no longer controlling it with circuit breakers, I was guiding others' energy with hypnotherapy. Helping people overcome challenges such as fear of flying, fear of the dentist, procrastination, and more was beyond satisfying. There was just one issue. Building a hypnotherapy practice from scratch is tough. And I was still getting calls to install recessed lights and upgrade electrical panels. I decided I would do electrical work during the day and see clients at night. After a year of that, it became exhausting and I chose to follow the money of contracting.
But that was then. I have since given up contracting and become a building inspector. Yep. I took all that knowledge and now I tell other contractors what they're doing wrong during the day while recording and mixing life-changing audio files at night.
So here I am—older, steadier, and finally done ignoring the pull.
Coming back to hypnotherapy doesn’t feel like a career change; it feels like coming home after a very long, very educational road trip. The precision I learned wiring houses now helps me craft razor-sharp hypnotic suggestions. The patience I needed on job sites translates directly into sitting with clients who’ve struggled with sleep for decades. And all those years of showing up in work boots keep me grounded, plain-spoken, and deeply relatable.
TherapeuticMindworks.com is where all of it comes together: the technical know-how, the creative mind, the hard-earned life experience, and the clinical hypnosis skills I never stopped loving. Everything here is designed to give you solutions that actually work—practical, science-backed, emotionally intelligent, and delivered by someone who’s lived in the real world, not just a therapy office.
If you’re exhausted from banging your head against the wall, you don’t need another gadget or generic tip list. You need someone who understands both the wiring of a house and the wiring of a frustrated mind.
That’s me. And I’m here to help you.
Let’s finally get you the long-lasting change you've been seeking—for good this time.
To Lasting Change,
William D. Rose, CHt
